Hi, I’m karina.

I am a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and mother of two little boys.

Originally from Germany, I have traveled and lived in multiple countries, including Brazil and New Zealand. Currently, I am settled in Boulder County in the beautiful Colorado mountains (USA).

During most of my 20s and early 30s, I was focused on advancing my marketing career and traveling the world. I saw food and exercise as a means to make my body look a certain way and rarely paid attention to how it made me feel – until I discovered the power of whole, unprocessed food.

Not depriving myself, eating food that truly nourishes my body, and paying attention to blood sugar balance helped me listen to my body’s signals again and supported me through an uncomplicated first pregnancy.

However, looking back, I had a difficult postpartum period marked by sleep deprivation, overwhelm, and the pressure to “bounce back” quickly and jump right back into my marketing career. Suddenly, I struggled with severe skin breakouts. I later learned that nutrient depletion, hormonal issues, and even the onset of autoimmune conditions are very common in the first year postpartum but in our modern society, there is a gap in knowledge and lack of support during that time.

My pregnancy and postpartum journey and my mission to support other women who are starting a family or have young children have led me to go back to school and become a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I aim to provide women with the tools and knowledge to take charge of their own and their children’s health, reconnecting them with the healing power of nourishing food.

Why NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

Pregnancy and starting a new family is one of the most sacred and beautiful times in our lives. It’s amazing to realize that we are growing another human being. And while some things are out of our control, diet, exercise, sleep habits, stress management, and toxin exposure, can have significant effects on your pregnancy and postpartum health and may even leave a permanent imprint on your (future) children’s health.

Yet - we often get overwhelmed by uncertainty and mixed messages from our environment, including social pressures, outdated medical advice, and marketing strategies designed to play on our emotions. While starting a new family is wonderful, it’s also a time shaped by high stress levels, time pressure, nutrient depletion, and unwelcome hormonal and physical changes.

This is where Functional Nutritional Therapy comes in.

The foundation of Functional Nutritional Therapy is a nutrient-dense, properly prepared, whole-food diet. It also takes into account digestion and the proper absorption of nutrients, hydration, blood sugar regulation, mineral balance, and the incorporation of healthy fats.

Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTPs) apply a holistic lens to your concerns and take into consideration the whole person and that everything is connected. Based on your health goals, history, and lifestyle we provide tailored but simple nutritional and lifestyle recommendations - meeting you where you are.

Whether you are trying to conceive, just got a positive pregnancy test, are recovering from birth and surviving on minimal sleep, or are breastfeeding an active toddler - I can help you assess your nutritional needs and put in place nutritional and lifestyle strategies that will help you thrive.
